My fathers, father, hit the ground at the break of every day
Carving out a future, he cut his cares away
As the knife struck, the cane fell, after every blow
Up and down the cane fields, row after row
and as the sun was falling, ‘twas time for winding down
They’d hurry from the paddock and head on into town (where)
Bundy Rum’s the only drink to quench a tough man’s thirst
Cane cutters cordial is a blessing not a curse
raise your glasses, yell out cheers, skull it down as one
Cane cutters cordial, that’s our Bundy Rum
I’ve followed in his footsteps, ten thousand tonne we grow
No longer do we cut by hand, machines are now the go
But a man still works an honest day out in the Qld sun
And needs to charge his batteries, when the day is done
So we head to town to hit the bar and just relax a while
The beer is just like water and wine is not our style (so)
Bundy Rum’s the only drink to quench a tough man’s thirst
Cane cutters cordial is a blessing not a curse
raise your glasses, yell out cheers, skull it down as one
Cane cutters cordial, that’s our Bundy Rum

Album: Just A Dream Away - Shaza Leigh (2013)
I’m fifth generation Australian
but proud of my strong Celtic past
It’s hard to believe any ties still remain
steeped in Tradition to forever last
We gaze over valleys and mountains
so different to far distant cousins
Though we’re so remote
we’ve never lost hope with
Celtic Blood deep in our veins
And I wonder just why they came over
And I wonder how our story began
The homelands are now such a mystery
As Celtic blood rises again
Yes Celtic blood rises again
Great Grandfathers mother was Scottish
and fathers Grandmother from Wales
Blended with Irish and English
raised to believe we were born to prevail
And that’s how it is in Australia
A broad mix of all breeds and creeds
As I sit in the silence late evening
our bush mends a heart known to bleed
And I wonder just why they came over
And I wonder how our story began
The homelands are now such a mystery
As Celtic blood rises again
Yes Celtic blood rises again

Album: Last Of The Travelling Showman - Brian Young & Royden Donoghue
I still recall in memory those days of long ago
Travelling down each new road to each new rodeo
We shared more than friendship as fear we defied
Until October '55 when you took your final ride
At Winton 1954 you rode the feature horse
Cloncurry was a tough one we all knew that of course
You only laughed and spurred him on
To win a hundred pounds
Champion in the making you took out every round
In the Bronc and Dogging finals at Mareeba we all found
You came out winning both events against the best around
Just twenty years of age you showed how it was done
Champion in the making you made it look like fun
When you drew bad at Ipswich Taxation was his name
You said it didn't matter you'd ride him just the same
He bucked over on you out on that trotting track
Champion in the making there was no turning back
As you lay there silently just outside the shoots
Slowly I picked up your hat and took care of your boots
And they rushed you to the hospital to see what they could do
Ah but Champion in the making I knew your life was through
Yes Ken you were a champion in the making we all knew
Australia's best in the game met their match in you
Though time has dimmed the heartbreak caused memories were made
Mate I know we’ll meet again when my entry fees are paid
Oh yes Ken I know we are going to meet again
When my entry fees are paid

Album: Blessings - Shaza Leigh (2023)
That circle of friends on which you depend
Their power of love has no end
Their light will shine more brightly rare like diamond from the moon
Touch your circle of friends now and then
It's all about just reaching out to make the time
We're all busy so let them know they're on your mind
Love will fill your heart so you see sunshine in the rain
And friends will bring you comfort through your pain
That circle of friends on which you depend
Their power of love has no end
Their light will shine more brightly rare like diamond from the moon
Touch your circle of friends now and then
Through the looking glass time will pass you may walk alone
So hold them close don't get lost they'll guide you home
Cause in your darkest hours let them shine their light upon
The path they know you've chosen to be on
That circle of friends on which you depend
Their power of love has no end
Their light will shine more brightly rare like diamond from the moon
Touch your circle of friends now and then

Album: Seasons - Shaza Leigh
They’re just climbing mountains and building bridges
There’s no doubt that they’ve lost their way
They’re just searching for that high road
That they used to travel on each day
Everything that they’ve built together
Seems to pale as they fuss and fight
And most times they just can’t remember
What it’s about let alone who’s wrong or right
They’re just climbing mountains and building bridges
There’s no doubt that they’ve lost their way
They’re just searching for that high road
That they used to travel on each day
They just know it’s worth the time they’re giving
To rebuild all that’s been torn down
Carving out a pathway to a future
So they can find their way next time round
They’re just climbing mountains and building bridges
There’s no doubt that they’ve lost their way
They’re just searching for that high road
That they used to travel on each day
They’re just searching for that high road
That they used to travel on each day

Shifting along the highway music in my ears
The radio’s not playing but there’s music everywhere
There’s the sound of the diesel engines the rubber on the road
And how I wish I had work just a little bit closer to home
A little bit closer to home you see
A little bit closer so I can be
Just a little bit closer to family
For my little girl that cries every time I leave
Twenty two wheels are rolling black diesel from the stack
My thousand K’s in seven days through the great outback
Two days of moving cattle then the next one iron ore
and on the seventh day I’ll be driving back to my little girl once more
A little bit closer to home you see
A little bit closer so I can be
Just a little bit closer to family
For my little girl that cries every time I leave
And the sun she’s now rising and my girl she’s on the phone
and I am reassuring her honey I’m coming home
A little bit closer to home you see
A little bit closer so I can be
Just a little bit closer to family
For my little girl that cries every time I leave

Album: Strength Within - Shaza Leigh
Oh I’ve watched you as you played out in the backyard
From the day you walked you began to climb
With each step you’d take you came a little closer
To the day you’d leave and we’d all know it’s time
Now as you walk your path of life you’ll find crossroads
They’ll determine how you make your journey end
May decisions that you make find you the highway
Cause there’ll always be crossroads round the bend
And I remember how we’d make the time to teach you
And guide you as we’d take you by the hand
And I’d pick you up whenever you’d fall over
With eternal love as only a mother can
Now as you walk your path of life you’ll find crossroads
They’ll determine how you make your journey end
May decisions that you make find you the highway
Cause there’ll always be crossroads round the bend
Yes as you walk your path of life you’ll find crossroads
They’ll determine how you make your journey end
May those decisions that you make lead you the right way
Cause there’ll always be crossroads ‘round the bend
Yes there’ll always be crossroads ‘round the bend

Album: Blessings - Shaza Leigh (2023)
She awakes every morning prepares for what lies ahead
There’s nothing unusual about the life she has led
She’s as down to earth as you’d find a kind caring soul
Another unsung hero with a heart of pure gold
They teach all our children guide them through every day
Yes they teach all our children how to work rest and play
Through sheer dedication futures atone
Lead the way through temptation cutting gems out of stone
He rises each morning life is heavy of mind
He needs to find the strength to face the trouble he’ll find
Burdened by his upbringing less than perfect we’d say
Schools become his salvation where he shines for the day
They teach all our children guide them through every day
Yes they teach all our children how to work rest and play
Through sheer dedication futures atone
Lead the way through temptation cutting gems out of stone
