I come from way out there where sun used to set on bushland

By a campfire warming watch flames how they’re dancing 

My noble old billy is boiling alone

Bright embers are glowing the world outside’s slowing

Timeless and peaceful wouldn’t swap for a throne

I sit captivated my heart and soul souring

Like many old swagmen did long long ago

And wonder if Henry got his inspiration

Watching his billy in the campfires glow

From the Flinders to Leichardt, Barcoo and Mitchell

My campfires glowing where-ever I roam 

On the Lachlan and Darling or down on the Murray

It’s the lure of our bushland from rock face to valley 

The grand lazy rivers that wined proud and free

And I’ve shared many campfires with great conversations

It’s people not places that mean most to me
